About Us
We're Mariella and Mike – an Anglo-Sardinian couple sharing our insider knowledge of Sardinia.

We’re Mariella and Mike – one of us grew up on the island, the other fell in love with it on his first visit and hasn’t stopped going back. Between us, we know Sardinia from both sides: the local and the first-time visitor.
Mariella is from Sardinia – born in Sassari and raised in Porto Torres before moving to the UK fifteen years ago for work. Her local knowledge and family connections give her access to the island’s hidden gems: quiet beaches, authentic family-run restaurants, and places most tourists never discover.
Mike was born and raised in Yorkshire and first visited Sardinia eight years ago after he met Mariella. Having arrived as a first-time visitor, he understands the challenges and pleasant surprises that await.
We now travel to Sardinia several times a year, combining family visits with exploring new corners of this beautiful island.
Who This Site Is For
This site is for English-speaking travellers who want to experience authentic Sardinia – not just tick off Instagram spots. If you’re curious about local culture, willing to drive on winding coastal roads, and excited to eat at family-run places where the menu is handwritten, you’re in the right place.
We’re especially useful if you’re planning your first trip and feeling a bit overwhelmed by the logistics.
Our Mission
Sardinia isn’t the most straightforward destination – it lacks the polished infrastructure of other Mediterranean spots. But that lack of overdevelopment is precisely what makes it special.
Over the years, we’ve answered countless questions from friends, family and acquaintances planning trips. We created this site to help visitors who approach Sardinia with curiosity and a bit of care – people who want to get it right.
Our aim is to help you plan and make the most of your visit, drawing on Mariella’s local knowledge and Mike’s experience as a first-time visitor. Whether you’re planning your first trip or looking to explore beyond the obvious, we’re here to help.

How We Keep This Site Free
This site is a labour of love – we built it because we kept giving the same advice to friends and thought we might as well write it down properly.
We keep it ad-free by including occasional affiliate links – the stuff we genuinely use ourselves. When you book ferries, accommodation, or tours through our links (like Ferryhopper), we earn a small commission at no extra cost to you. We only recommend what we’d suggest to our own family.
If our guides have saved you hours of planning or helped you discover something special, you’re also welcome to buy us a coffee. It’s entirely optional and helps us keep the content flowing.
We’re selective about what we recommend. If we wouldn’t book it ourselves, or suggest it to a friend, it doesn’t go on the site. Simple as that.
